The Gift School is currently seeking dedicated English teachers and assistants for the 2024 school year to teach or assist our elementary (ages 6 to 10) and preschool (ages 3 to 6) classes. We have openings for both full-time and part-time positions, as well as for substitute roles throughout the school year.
English Teachers – Primary & Pre-K/Kindergarten
As a teacher, you will manage and be responsible for an Elementary level class (6 – 10 years old) and/or a Pre-Kindergarten class (3 to 5 years old). You will teach children with varying levels of English (from Beginner to Fluent). As an assistant, you will asssist and support teachers in managing classroom activities and ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for all children.
English teachers work closely with their French teacher counterparts, and each class is composed of up to 18 children maximum.
- In the elementary classes, you will teach Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and History/ Geography in English, as well as other subjects such as Art, Music, and Physical Education.
- In the Pre-K classes, you will use the Montessori teaching method to teach in English.
The teaching position is for you if:
- You are a native English speaker or you have lived in an English-speaking country
- You have good knowledge of French
- You have solid teaching experience
- You have a diploma or certification in teaching from an English speaking establishment, or you have a diploma or certification to teach the English language
- You are aware of or have experience in alternative teaching methods such as Montessori, Steiner-Waldorf and Freinet
- You are sensitive to and respectful of children’s needs and will strive to keep them at the center of the teaching process
- You have experience working with at least one teaching method for reading and writing in English
- You consider yourself to be environmentally aware and you take concrete actions to preserve the planet
- You enjoy working on a small team
